DVS 2024 (PSS)

What is the latest on the upcoming Direct Vision Standard (DVS) Phase 2 and the Progressive Safe System (PSS) requirements for October 2024? 

Transport for London's most recent update indicated that the technical specifications for the PSS (Progressive Safe System) should be released by the end of this month, and the re-application process for the DVS Safety Permit will commence on 24th June 2024.

What we know so far about the PSS:

1. Nearside Camera – Camera must completely eliminate the remaining vehicle blind spot at the nearside.

2. Side Sensor Detection - Sensors must ensure full coverage down the nearside of the vehicle and must not activate in relation to roadside furniture.

3. Front Sensor Detection/MOIS - HGVs must have a front sensor system that activates a proximity information signal detecting pedestrians or cyclists.
